 Safe Guarding Training

 Sonia is an adult psychoanalytic psychotherapist with 26 years’ post-qualifying experience treating adults with a range of emotional difficulties within the NHS and as a private practitioner.  She also has a background in working with children and their families within health, local authorities and court proceedings as a guardian ad litem.  Sonia was a senior manager within child and adolescent mental health services.

Sonia currently works at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust as an adult psychoanalytic psychotherapist and is also the Trust’s Safeguarding Lead for Children.

 The objectives of the training for Adults are:

  • to know the Six Principles
  • to understand the relevant legislation
  • to  understand Patient Alerts  requirements
  • to be aware of issues  linked to mental capacity and deprivation of liberty

 Safeguarding children training requirements are subject to a number of guidance documents, including Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015; Pan-London Child Protection Procedures 2017 and the Inter-Collegiate Document 2015.
